Connecting You with Quality British Bees & Local Breeders
We connect beekeepers across the UK with trusted local breeders to promote sustainable, disease-resistant, and locally adapted honeybees.
Shared Values & Standards
Whilst we cannot inspect every apiary in person, we aim to unite breeders and beekeepers who share our commitment to bee welfare. We champion sellers who prioritise calm temperament, disease resistance, and responsible husbandry over quick commercial turnarounds.
Rooted in British Genetics
Guided by a lifelong commitment to reversing the decline of our native honeybees, we encourage our community to list locally raised, adapted stock. By giving preference to British-reared queens and nucleus colonies, we help reduce reliance on overseas imports and protect local honeybee heritage.
Science, Education & Ecosystems
As registered members of the BBKA and BIBBA, our mission goes far beyond a marketplace. We support scientific research, promote natural pollination, and invest in educating future generations—driven purely by a passion for the honeybee’s vital role in our countryside.
About Buy British Bees & Our Mission
Buy British Bees was established as a dedicated tool for the UK apiculture community—a platform built by beekeepers, for beekeepers.
Our purpose is to give local beekeepers and breeders the marketplace they have long needed to trade healthy, locally adapted stock.
We believe passionately in the extraordinary role of the honeybee and the profound good pollinators bring to our countryside.
We are motivated not by commercial profit, but by a genuine, lasting desire to make a difference.
Our Core Aims
Buy British Bees is a simple, growing project created to connect local beekeepers and breeders across the UK. Our goal is to provide a practical alternative to importing stock or buying bees from hundreds of miles away, keeping bees local, healthy, and suited to our climate.
While this platform is still in its infancy, we are actively developing it to build a stronger community network for keepers everywhere.
